Tip 199: Rearrange the furniture
How you layout the seating arrangements can have a fundamental impact on the format and running of your presentation.
Serried rows of chairs mean that the audience can see only the speaker. This restricts participation and suggests a more formal atmosphere.
Circular or semi-circular arrangement of chairs or desks means that the audience can see each other, implying that everyone is expected to contribute.
The presence of desks in a brightly lit room suggests that the audience should take notes during the presentation.
If you find the seating arrangement is not suited to the format of your presentation, then try to get the seating arrangement changed to the way you want it.
