Tip 46: Focus on main arguments rather than details
Especially in a conference situation where each speaker is given a short, fixed allocation of minutes and there are many presentations taking place in the space of a few hours, you cannot expect to convey all the relevant information about your subject in that time, and you cannot expect your audience to absorb every minutiae of data that you present to them. In such a situation, less is more.
Give your audience short, striking punch lines that they’ll remember. Your presentation should be like a TV advert, advertising your written article or research, or to generate contacts for future collaboration. It should stimulate your audience’s curiosity so that they will read your article or get in touch with you personally.
