Tip 190: Use a spell checker
Spelling mistakes are not acceptable. Your audience will fixate on them and may even laugh at you. They will not pay attention to what you're saying.
Run your slides and handout through a spell-checker.
Spell-checkers are not perfect as they cannot detect if you have used the wrong word – they can only detect that you have spelt it incorrectly.
Therefore, make sure you proofread everything yourself, and then ask a friend or colleague to proofread for you - they will pick up things that you did not notice.
