Tip 77: Take photos of your equipment with you
If you are travelling to a foreign country for your presentation, you may find that you don’t actually know the Romanian word for "slide projector" or the Venezuelan word for “laser pointer” or the Mongolian word for "computer". How do you say "I need a power cable for my laptop" in Xhosa?
Rather than fumbling through your phrase-book at the last minute, it is far easier and less stressful to simply pack photos of the key equipment you require for your presentation. You can either take the photos yourself, or cut them out of a trade magazine.
Then when you need to ask an Uzbek shopkeeper in Tashkent for a 240V AC power adapter, it hopefully won’t turn into a Central Asian game of charades.
