Tip 217: Control your breathing
If your natural tendency is to pant in shallow breaths when you are nervous, you can control this by consciously forcing yourself to take slower, deeper breaths. This sends a signal to your brain that you have nothing to fear. It helps to calm you down.
Reduce your nervousness by taking several deep breaths immediately before you're introduced. In the thirty seconds before you begin speaking, take three slow, deep breaths through your nose, filling your belly. As you breathe out, say to yourself, "Relax."
