Tip 130: Build a library of wildcard photo slides

As you give more and more presentations you will soon accumulate a collection of generic photos and slides. These can form your library of wildcard slides which you can drop into any future presentations. This will save time as you will not have to reinvent the wheel for each presentation.

Often there is no intrinsic meaning to these slides. You must use your imagination to build a story or anecdote (real or fictional) surrounding the slide which you can tailor to the presentation you are giving and the audience you are presenting to, in order to reinforce the point you want to make.

About the author

Dr Mandar Marathe graduated from Southampton University with an honours degree in Biomedical Sciences in 1998 and a Bachelor of Medicine degree in 1999. He holds advanced qualifications in Emergency Medicine and in Toxicology.

He juggles a career as a doctor working in Accident & Emergency, while raising three children with his wife, writing books, and endlessly surfing the internet looking for the next "big thing".

With almost two decades of public speaking experience in both academic and professional arenas, he is today an enthusiastic and popular educator who is well qualified to share his ideas about what makes a successful speaker and a powerful presentation.
