Tip 129: Use photos or cartoons for humour
Photos which are humorous in themselves, or if you can provide a humorous anecdote, story or caption are a great way to provide some light relief in an otherwise heavy presentation. They give the audience the chance to switch off for a few moments and recharge for the slides which follow.
The same effect can be achieved with cartoon, either with captions or with captions that you provide live.
As with all humour and jokes in particular, timing is paramount. You must therefore practice the delivery of such slides beforehand until you get the timing right and can perform them smoothly and naturally.
