Tip 91: Lower the pitch of your voice
Whenever you give a presentation, always remember that the focus of the presentation is you, and not your slide set. Always be in a position where you will be facing your audience. Talk to your audience, not to the projection screen.
Never be one of those speakers who sits at the front of the room facing the projection screen with his back towards the audience and fails to notice that the entire audience has fallen asleep behind him!
Always make sure that you are positioned such that you can achieve the following three rules simultaneously:
Face your audience, so that you can see them and they can see you.
See which slide your audience is seeing, so that you can check you are on the correct slide.
See your notes, either on the desk in front of you or in your hand.
Sometimes getting this juggling act does take some advance planning and practice. You should aim to face your audience at least 80% of the time. Avoid turning your back to your audience.
