Tip 127: Personalise the slides with unique photos
If you are going to a larger event with multiple speakers such as a conference, a more challenging yet rewarding technique is to use your digital camera to take photos that your audience can relate with, download them onto your laptop or a computer at the venue, and incorporate them into your presentation.
Examples of memorable things to include are conference venue, event organisers, programme, keynote speakers, the hotel’s headed notepaper, hotel lobby, sponsors’ goodies or even photos taken during your flight, train or road journey to the event.
This makes your audience feel that your slides were made purely for that event. It gives the impression that you have gone to great lengths to prepare for that particular presentation. Of course, you must make a natural reference to these things in the talk itself. Your audience will feel really honoured to be receiving a one of a kind, unique, special presentation tailored for that particular audience in that event at that particular time.
