Tip 211: It is normal to be anxious
Even experienced speakers get nervous. You should not be afraid of butterflies. They're a normal and healthy feeling. It means that your senses are heightened and you're ready to perform. Most public speakers have butterflies before starting a presentation.
It is normal, natural and appropriate to have a degree of nervousness about the event, as that feeling of nerves will force you to give your best performance.
Instead of trying to eliminate your jitters, turn them into positive energy you can use to boost your delivery. Get rid of those chemical and psychological reactions by becoming message-centred and audience-centred, not self-centred.
