Tip 128: Avoid clip art
Clip art used to be in fashion in the 1990’s and PowerPoint includes a range of commonly-used clip art. When clip art became popular, access to high quality photos in digital form was very limited: this was of course before the days of digital cameras and inexpensive scanners!
Today, access to digital cameras, scanners and stock photo websites on the internet (see “Tip 122: Use high-quality photos”, page 71) is so widespread that the use of clip art in a presentation does seem old-fashioned and amateurish.
Even if you yourself have limited access to such technology, you can almost certainly ask a friend, colleague or relative who will be able to help you create your presentation with high quality photos rather than clip art.
