Tip 140: Select backgrounds carefully
As a general rule, your slides' background should match the ambient light in the room where you will be giving the presentation.
So, if you are presenting in a brightly lit seminar room, you should keep the lights on and use a light background; if you are presenting in a large, dim lecture theatre, use a dark background.
There should be good contrast between the background and the text. If your slide background is light, your text should be dark; if your slide background is dark, your text should be light.
