Connect with your audience
As the speaker, you must "connect" with your audience as soon as possible, preferably in the first 60 seconds of your presentation. After you have connected, you must work to maintain that connection throughout the presentation.
But what does it mean to "connect"? It means you must be on the same wavelength. It means you must have a rapport. It means you must win their trust. It means that you understand everything about them, and they understand everything about you. It means that there are no barriers between you and them.
To connect is to have an almost spiritual relationship between the presenter and the audience.
If you want your audience to hear what you say, take it in and respond in the way you want them to, they need to feel that you care about them and their needs. When you care about people, they respond.
