Tip 20: Start with the end in mind
Before you even think about creating the slides or OHP transparencies, sit down and really think about the day of your presentation. What is the real purpose of your talk? Why is it that you were asked to speak? What does your audience expect? In your opinion, what are the most important parts of your topic for your audience to take away from presentation?
You should be able to write down a set of objectives for your audience. A summary of what you, as the presenter, want your audience to go home with, along with the reasons why you have selected these objectives.
While you are planning your presentation, keep this list of objectives displayed prominently to help you stay focused on your ultimate objectives.
