Tip 197: Familiarise yourself with the venue room
When you visit the room where you will be delivering your presentation, you must use this opportunity to familiarise yourself with the room in as much intimate detail as possible.
You must identify the following:
The podium
Where the chairperson will be sitting
Where your audience will be sitting
The distance between the podium and the chairperson
The distance between the podium and your audience
Is the presenter expected to stand / sit at a particular position, or is there flexibility for the presenter to move around the room or stage?
What are the acoustics of the room
How your voice travels across the room, and how loud you must talk in order to be heard in all areas of the room
How you will control your slide presentation
Whether you have access to a pointer
