Tip 112: Ignore 90% of PowerPoint's functions
Presentation programs have developed to such an extent that most speakers can easily ignore 90% of their functions. You want to spend your time preparing the content, the delivery, the handout, and the interaction with your audience. You do not want to spend most of your time on the computer playing with toys.
Use simple or few transitions and animations. Limit your slides to a few words, and some high quality graphics. Learn how to insert video or audio clips, but only if your presentation would benefit from it. Apart from that, you can ignore most other functions.
