Tip 21: What is your take-home message?
When you are planning your presentation, write down on a piece of paper as specifically as possible what you believe are your “take-home messages”. These are the crux of your argument. These are the essence of your message. These are your thesis statements. These are your claims, your unique selling propositions.
Even if your audience forgets everything else about your presentation, you want them to remember your take-home messages. If you could tell them only a few things, what would they be?
Once you have written them down, keep your take-home messages handy so you can always refer to them.
Everything else about your presentation is there merely a vehicle that will allow you to deliver your take-home messages to your audience. Everything else must be built around your take-home messages.
