Tip 205: Rehearse the presentation one last time
After you have loaded your slides, checked that they work, analysed the structure of the room and done your warm-up, now is the time for a final dress rehearsal.
Go to the room where you will be presenting, and with no one else in the room, stand at the podium, take a deep breath and practice your presentation one last time.
Use this opportunity to remind yourself about the sequence of your presentation, to figure out how loud you have to talk, to practice any demonstrations and get yourself mentally and psychologically ready.
At the end of this dress rehearsal, you can think of yourself as the pilot of an aircraft standing at the start of the runway. Your aircraft is fully fuelled for the journey. The engines have been warmed up. The flaps, ailerons and elevators have been tested. All the passengers are seated and their luggage is secured. You are waiting just for the control tower to give you permission to take off.
